My Autistic Birthday

Today is my birthday, I am 30-something years old now and today was a good day.

I had three presents and a bunch of cards to open, not too many as to be overwhelming, and my partner made me a cuppa while I opened them so I could feel more comfortable doing so.

I relaxed for around an hour and then we headed to a Steakhouse for my birthday treat, we had picked a perfect time and the place was quiet (but not empty) and the food was nice. Then we did a little shopping so I could treat myself and headed home. We were out long enough for us both to be tired and ready to head back but not too long that I felt overwhelmed at all.

I am very lucky to have a wonderful person in my life as I have not had to do anything today and he’s just brought me some cheese on toast as an afternoon snack (this is also a little selfish on his part as I’m starting to teeter into hangry territory).

I hope anyone reading this has had a relaxed, happy day. I’ll try and get back to usual deep and meaningful self soon.

I decided I wanted to do something positive with my life and speak out about what it feels like to be an adult with autism.
