Assessment update

It’s only a small update but it feels like a huge step in the right direction.

Two years and two months since I first rang the drs for help, one year and seven months since being placed on the waiting list (six months over the average waiting time) and I have first contact! I received a letter a couple of weeks ago informing me that I am now in the top section of the waiting list and to arrange an appointment.

It is now all very exciting and promising as I have gone this whole time with no support from anywhere apart from my limited friends and family. I contacted the centre and picked which location I wanted to attend and now it’s just waiting to hear back with an appointment date and time.

This means I could soon be diagnosed, I could soon be receiving support and coping mechanisms, access to resources to help me work through how I’m affected by the way I’m wired.

As soon as I know the next step then I’ll update again.

I decided I wanted to do something positive with my life and speak out about what it feels like to be an adult with autism.
